7026, Connected souls, Oezbahar Meral

$750.00

ARTWORK ID: 7026

CATEGORY: Works on Paper

ARTIST STATEMENT:

This drawing is a reflection of resilience, care, and the quiet beauty found in life's later years. The woman's face tells a story written by time-every line, every wrinkle a trace of memory, hardship, and endurance.

Her hands, weathered and strong, gently hold a young kangaroo, capturing a quiet moment of trust between human and animal. I've always felt a deep connection to animals, and in this piece, I wanted to express how simple closeness-without words-can create comfort and calm.

I created this drawing using graphite and charcoal, focusing on contrast, texture, and emotional expression. With each stroke, I aimed to show strength in stillness, care in silence, connection without expectation, and love without words.

As an emerging artist living far from home, this work also holds something personal-an appreciation for the gentle bonds that help us feel grounded, even in unfamiliar places.

MEDIUM: Graphite and charcoal on paper

ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 500mm x 700mm

WEIGHT (approx): 3.1kg

ARTIST LOCATION: UTAKARRA, WA
