ARTIST STATEMENT:
The genesis for the work was a studio view spotted in the corner of my eye. On reflection the ensemble of objects felt like it had compositional potential. The square mirror framed by the easel set up a rhythm . When it came to painting, I further emphasised this by using a square canvas. Three faces appear in the painting ; mine, in the mirror , Donald Duck, on the t-shirt and Bob Ross on the cup (the painter who rightly proclaimed he could move mountains with his paint brush) The faces set up a dialogue of sorts, although ambiguous ,it is not without humour.
