5062, The Land Between Colours, Rebecca Hayes

$2,530.00

ARTWORK ID: 5062

CATEGORY: Pilbara Landscape

ARTIST STATEMENT:

This work explores the subtle transitions within the Pilbara landscape, where colour shifts are guided not only by season, but by light itself. The red earth, violet wildflowers and soft gold grasses exist in a moment of balance - not competing, but held together by a quiet, unifying light.

Built through layers of mixed media and finished in oil, the surface reflects the way the landscape reveals itself slowly. Marks are developed and softened over time, allowing texture and tone to emerge rather than be imposed. This process mirrors the experience of being in the Pilbara, where stillness and intensity coexist, and where small changes in light can completely alter the land's presence.

Rather than capturing a specific location, the work focuses on a feeling - that moment where the land seems suspended between colour, between heat and softness, between what is seen and what is sensed. It is in this space that the landscape feels most alive.

MEDIUM: Mixed Media Oil

ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 910mm x 610mm

WEIGHT (approx): 2kg
