ARTIST STATEMENT:
Jennifer grew up in Dampier and, with her family, regularly camped on the island of West Lewis in the Dampier Archipelago. This island is a landscape that has bubbled below and above the surface of memory as its significance has slowly come into focus. There is a need to revisit this place to understand and put this significance into perspective. From childhood memories to understanding the bigger context of the surrounding area there is a lot to process in this landscape. It is a convergence of industry, landscape and indigenous culture creating a unique place of international significance. The Return is about experiencing this landscape anew.
