ARTWORK ID: 5047
CATEGORY: Pilbara Landscape
ARTIST STATEMENT:
This work is based on a memory of driving through the Pilbara, where the landscape was experienced in motion.
The foreground moved quickly and blurred, while the distant ranges held their form for longer. Bright moonlight in the sky remained constant, acting as a point of reference within the shifting landscape.
In this painting, I have allowed detail to fall away in the foreground to reflect that movement, while maintaining greater clarity in the distance. This contrast mirrors the way the landscape was perceived at the time.
The Pilbara is a place of awe inspiring depth, scale and presence, often best understood by those who know it over time. This work does not attempt to define it, but to reflect a series of memories and encounters - passing through.
