ARTWORK ID: 5014
CATEGORY: Pilbara Landscape
ARTIST STATEMENT:
This painting was inspired by my own personal experience as a Fly-In Fly-Out worker in the Pilbara and aims to honour the dedication and daily lives of FIFO workers.
I have tried to capture the unique lifestyle and experiences of those living this transient existence.
A plane window views the mine and scale of work being undertaken, with a dump truck being loaded and shaping the surroundings.
'Boot Trees' evoke nostalgia and a sense of camaraderie among workers, while the wildlife shows resilience and adaption to mining.
A family photo provides a poignant contrast, highlighting the personal, emotional connections and sacrifices that are often impacted by the demands of such a lifestyle
MEDIUM: Oil on Canvas
ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 930mm x 930mm
WEIGHT (approx): 3kg
