ARTIST STATEMENT:
In this painting of Hearsons Cove I aim to share the awe many people feel in this special place. I was standing on the beach at the end of a long day, the changing colours were incredible. The dark reds and ochres on the ancient rocks were reflected onto still water. This was contrasting with a soft sky stretching for miles out over shallow tidal flats.
I used a mixture of sand and acrylic medium hoping to capture the texture of the rocks, and smooth long brushstrokes using oils to invoke the stillness of water. I hope the viewers feel the peace and calm of this place as I do.
