Judge’s comments:
This painting gives us insight into the complex environment experienced at low tide. As water and land intermingle, this work is a finely observed and experienced network of lines, patterns and rhythms. Much attention has been given to the subtle colours that appear and disappear in the changes unfolding at low tide.
ARTWORK ID: 4001

ARTIST STATEMENT:
Chasing the sunrise has become a custom practice for my family. Watching the sun's rays dance on the shifting sand and mud flats. When the tide goes out, we collect shell meat from the reef, rocks and sand. The young boys and men walk out with the tide and spear fish, jinup (stingray) and crab.
MEDIUM: Acrylic
ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 760mm x 760mm
WEIGHT (approx): 2kg
