ARTIST STATEMENT:
Living life bright-Felicia Olsen
I am an Abstract artist. My process starts with thin washes of acrylic paint which work their way up to bold gestural marks, adding strong contrast between light and heavy.
Marks, no matter how small, translucent or opaque, carry equal importance to my representation of my life. This is my way of depicting the brightness in celebrating life.
I use negative space and strong colour shifts to enhance depth and contrast. The dialogue between softness and weight heightens the artistic tension. I end with a final layer of contrasting oil pastels.
In these ways, I add a sculptural quality to the artwork.
