3071, learning to dance and my fathers toes, Becky Austin

$500.00

ARTWORK ID: 3071

CATEGORY: Open Theme

ARTIST STATEMENT:

Becky Austin is an emerging artist from Perth who paints large, powerful abstracts exploring the urban landscape. She is inspired by her thoughts and feelings, and the interplay between objects and structures and the natural world. Becky works in acrylics, dry mixed media and collage using a variety of painting techniques with non-traditional tools to create her unique works. Becky's paintings are a visual song, deliberately layered, and vibrantly coloured, they speak to the heart. This painting is from an extended series of work which examined the meanings of 'home'. As a small child I used to stand on my father's toes as he danced around the room. For a short time, in his youth, he had been a fill in partner for his sister as she prepared for a ballroom dancing competition. I can still remember how much fun it was to twirl about.

MEDIUM: Acrylic and Mixed Media (hand printed collage papers, acrylic ink) on board (mdf)

ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 600mm x 600mm

WEIGHT (approx): 2.5kg

ARTIST LOCATION: MANNING, WA
