ARTIST STATEMENT:
Ocean Sparkles' was inspired by a holiday visit to a beach near Warroora Station. It was wonderful listening to the gentle lapping of waves and feeling the soft sand beneath my feet, while the sunlight sparkled across the crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Ningaloo Coastline. The light dancing on the water made the scene feel lively and peaceful, highlighting the area's natural beauty and quiet atmosphere.
To capture this effect, I used a glazing technique with transparent oil colours, which helped create the feeling of looking through clear water at seaweed and sandy seabed. I finished the painting by adding bright sparkles to the tops of the sea ripples. By choosing a limited palette of lilac, cool blues, and yellow-orange, I aimed to reflect the tranquil harmony and serenity of the coastline.
