This painting depicts a lemon-flowered gum tree in my driveway, whose soft glow often captures my attention as I pass. I aimed to translate this familiar experience into my work by allowing the marks to bleed and the forms to diffuse, mirroring the tree's transient presence. This approach was a deliberate exercise in restraint, moving away from literal representation towards emotive intuition. Subsequently revealing beauty in day-to-day observations, and the subtle ways they shape our mood.
