3044, Breaking Surf, Dianne Lofts-Taylor
ARTWORK ID: 3044
CATEGORY: Open Theme
ARTIST STATEMENT:
A beach just north of Perth W A, at a place called Wedge Island where we have a beach shack that my family have enjoyed for the last 40 years. So many wonderful memories, waking up early to catch the surf, braving the waves for a couple of hours, before heading back to the shack for a well earned breakfast.
The main focus of this painting are three surf breaks, capturing the transparency of the turquoise water in the face of each wave. You can see the build up of the surging ocean forming the next wave. The whitewater from the crashing waves surging toward the beach in swirling patterns of lace-like sea foam is a constantly moving image capturing the raw power and beauty of the coastline.
Western Australia is known for its beautiful beaches and fantastic surf breaks along its vast coastline with amazing range of colours from indigo, sea greens to turquoise set on creamy white and coral coloured sandy beaches that captures the warmth of the northern coastal and Pilbara beaches.
