ARTIST STATEMENT:
Forest Unseen explores the mystery and depth that exist beyond what is immediately visible. In this work, I experimented with allowing the underpainting to remain present, creating layers that suggest movement and hidden spaces within the forest.
The foreground trees stand with familiar strength and individuality, yet the background begins to open, revealing glimpses of colour, light, and shifting forms. This interplay invites the viewer to look beyond the surface and consider what might be unfolding behind the trees - what is partially concealed, yet still present.
Within the Forest Series, this painting reflects the idea that not all growth or change is clearly seen. There are moments in life and faith where meaning develops quietly beneath the surface, in ways we do not fully understand.
Forest Unseen invites a sense of curiosity and trust - an openness to the beauty and mystery of what lies beyond our immediate view.
