ARTIST STATEMENT:
I have spent a lot of time camping in the bush recently and this has greatly inspired my arts practice. As a Cy Twombly influenced abstract expressionist painter, I have been painting my feelings of places I have visited and love. In this work I have tried to capture the intense density and aliveness of the thickets along the riverbank at Chapmans Pool and my feelings of exuberance and awe at the power and beauty of nature. Feelings we can all remember from being a child.
