ARTIST STATEMENT:
I loved the movement of these dancers abandoning themselves in the flames and this is what I have tried to capture in this artwork. The fire gives the painting a surrealistic feeling as yellow embers fly into the air and surround the bodies of the dancers. Yellow paint thrown onto the canvas adds to the energy and vibrancy of the artwork and the faint bodies hinted at in the background create the illusion of a multi-cultural gathering.
