Identity of the West

The resources industry is the dominant characteristic of Western Australia, the workforce of the industry is the face of that identity.

A growing trend is the employment of women in a wide variety of jobs, from engineers to tradies, to machine operators and truck drivers where they are valued because of their superb handling of the equipment.

This painting of the young woman driver of one of the huge movers in a Pilbara iron ore mine is typical of the nature of the resources industry and depicts the future identity of the industry.
