ARTIST STATEMENT:
Painted entirely with coffee, this piece tells a quiet riverside story steeped in rich, earthy tones with reflections of gold, hinting at our secret fishing spot.
The river ran the color of gold and coffee, slow and gleaming under the fading sun. I cast my line where the current bent, knowing that's where the barramundi liked to wait. The line twitched once, then again, and suddenly the water broke, a prized catch cutting through the warm brown glow.
By dusk, with the barramundi secured, I waded closer to the banks where the mud crabs hid. My hands sank into the cool silt, feeling for movement. A quick snap, a careful grip, and another prize emerged from the shadows.
We sat by the river as night settled in, the water still shimmering like a brewed dream, sharing quiet laughter and the simple reward of what the river had given.
