ARTWORK ID: 2024
CATEGORY: North West Flora and Fauna
ARTIST STATEMENT:
There's a calm across the Pilbara as the sun soaks it to the core, and the cool of night takes pace and starts to win the score.
The dust , pinks and yellows settle on spinifex and planes, be quiet, can hear the call, if yes it's time the night shift leave the desert floor.
They used to be in numbers but flame and fur cruelled that.
So where is the night shift now?,that nocturnal yellow green?.
Remembering it's for future generations… you do know what I mean.
Into the blackest of nights, soaked sea of stars, Stop!….take a rare glimpse at this part………let's not, loose that night shift, from our desert heart.
Poem and art by Jase Rickert. Painted with Cockatoo/ Corella feathers.
About the Artist
