ARTIST STATEMENT:
I have been a regular visitor to the Kimberley region and Australian birds and lakes are amongst my favourite subjects to paint. I particularly love painting jabirus and pelicans and for me, the perfect end to a day is watching birds congregate at sunset on the lakes and waterholes. The setting sun casts beautiful colours of yellow and orange on the lake and my intention was to capture the colour of the sunset as the sun sets over the water and the birds fly in to roost. It is the movement and colour which has captured my imagination in this painting.
