ARTWORK ID: 2019
CATEGORY: North West Flora and Fauna
ARTIST STATEMENT:
In the wake of Cyclone Narelle, my yard became an unintentional archive of dislocation; leaves torn from their branches and scattered into new, unfamiliar arrangements. What first appeared as debris gradually revealed itself as an incidental garden, rich with colour, texture, and quiet resilience.
This work is a botanical study of those fragments. By isolating and preserving their jewel-like hues, I seek to draw attention to their fleeting beauty while acknowledging the force that displaced them. The images hold a tension between loss and renewal, inviting reflection on what endures even as it is transformed.
MEDIUM: Acrylic on canvas
ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 400mm x 500mm
WEIGHT (approx): 0.75kg
