2023 COSSACK ARTIST RESIDENCY ANNOUNCED

Broome based artist Alice Boardman has been selected as the Cossack Art Awards 2023 Artist in Residence.

Sponsored by Principal Partner Rio Tinto, the Artist in Residence programs returns to the historic town of Cossack, which Alice will call home during her four-week residency.

Alice holds a Diploma of Arts from Swinburne University of Technology and an Advanced Diploma of Art Therapy.

She has worked with people to utilise art as an avenue for self-expression and improved wellbeing within education, community, youth justice and health service contexts.

Alice arts practice covers a variety of mediums from painting, drawing and photography, with her recent works focusing on experimental glass and found object works.

City of Karratha Deputy Mayor Kelly Nunn said the City is delighted to present Alice Boardman as the 2023 Cossack Arts Awards Artist in Residence.

“The Cossack Arts Awards are one of the most significant events in the Western Australian arts & culture calendar and provide a unique platform for local artists to showcase their talents," Cr Nunn said.

“It is wonderful to see the Cossack Art Awards continue to attract a range of accomplished artists such as Alice.

“I am looking forward to seeing the high calibre submissions entered by artists from across the Pilbara and beyond.”

Alice is looking to expand her practice of using glass while continuing her painting and photography and her next pursuits are to research the alchemy of glass and fire.
