Living in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Australia since 2019, my fascination with the geology of Australia has developed as a strong interest in my creative practice. As I travel across the continent my intrigue with rock formations and intricate textures has expanded from the north west region of Australia to the geographically contrasted south east region.
This painting depicts the intricate textures of a rock spotted on a hike in Werribee Gorge, in Victoria. Lichen has always been something I have delighted in, the long process of growth and particular environments it grows in, is fascinating to me.
