7040, Regenerate, Jessica Edwards Parker

$1,000.00

ARTWORK ID: 7040

CATEGORY: Works on Paper

ARTIST STATEMENT:

In this artwork, traditional watercolour techniques are combined with less conventional methods such as paper collage and needlework. While paper is not typically associated with embroidery thread, here it symbolizes the fragility of time-intensive handiwork in a world increasingly shaped by machine production.

The subject matter celebrates the beauty of branches and sticks in the later stages of their life cycle, the power of water to spark regeneration from within seed pods, and the unique brilliance of Australian flora-especially the iconic banksia.

The five discs are a recurring motif throughout this collection. They represent family and community, storytelling and gathering, and offer a stylized nod to native seed pods, drawing inspiration from the marri tree's honky nuts and rose mallee forms.

MEDIUM: Watercolour mixed media, cotton paper, cotton thread

ARTWORK DIMENSIONS (width x height): 444mm x 615mm

WEIGHT (approx): 3kg

ARTIST LOCATION: WATTENING, WA
